Daira Marín
Since my early days of training as a teenager, I discovered in open water swimming not just a sport, but a passion that would demand dedication, effort, and commitment. The journey was not easy. Starting young in such a challenging discipline meant countless hours of physical and mental preparation, early sessions in cold waters, and an unwavering determination to achieve my goals.
Throughout my career, I have achieved milestones that at one point seemed unattainable. One of the most significant accomplishments was becoming the first woman to swim across the Paraná River, from Itatí to Corrientes, covering a distance of 70 kilometers. This feat represented not only a personal achievement to raise awareness about water conservation but also a step forward in increasing the visibility of women in endurance sports.
As a high-performance athlete, I have learned to live with commitment, pain, fatigue, and to find satisfaction in every stroke, in every kilometer swum. Open water swimming taught me to face uncertainty, to read the currents, to respect the forces of nature, and above all, to surpass my own limits. Every challenge in the water is an opportunity to grow and evolve, and I am grateful to share this story, which continues to drive me to swim beyond what I once thought possible and, today, encourage others to swim toward their dreams.

Yoga and Sport
The connection between swimming and Kundalini yoga is much deeper than it might appear at first glance. Both disciplines require a balance between strength, endurance, flexibility, and, above all, control of the mind and breath. As a professional swimmer and Kundalini yoga instructor, I have experienced how integrating these practices can transform and elevate athletic performance.
Kundalini yoga goes beyond physical movement; it focuses on awakening and channeling internal energy, improving not only concentration but also breath control and mind-body connection. These skills are essential for an open water swimmer, where every stroke must be mindful and each breath optimized. The practice of pranayamas (breathing exercises) and kriyas (specific sequences) strengthens lung capacity, teaches how to manage fatigue, and brings mental calm, which can make a difference during demanding competitions.
Through Kundalini yoga, athletes can cultivate a deeper connection with themselves, overcoming physical and mental limits. The practice helps reduce stress, improve recovery, and develop the inner discipline needed to face high-performance challenges. In the stillness of meditation or the dynamism of a sequence, we find the strength that drives our progress in the water and in life. Thus, yoga not only complements training but transforms it into a path of self-awareness and excellence.
